summer 2k16

It’s been awhile. I’m feeling ready to stretch my writing muscles again, and trying to remember how to do this. Blogging has changed so much since I first started writing, six(!) years ago. Continue reading

End of January and Five Favorites

I wrote a whole long post about what’s been happening around here, but was boring myself to tears, so I’ll share a few photos to sum up the last month and we’ll just move right along, okay? Continue reading

Halloween + Wedding (But Not a Halloween Wedding)

All the crazy from the past week is over, everyone has gone or is traveling home now, and I’m doing my best to counter the general malaise by pounding out a recap/photo dump from the past week. It doesn’t help that the lovely October honeymoon is over, and November is here with a vengeance, as evidenced by the snow coming down outside my window. My mother-in-law sent me a thoughtful email in which she commented how reentry is always so hard.. and she is so right. It’s always hard coming off an awesome weekend filled with fun, family, and laughter, and then trying to get back into our old routine. So! Buckle up, this will probably be a longer post than usual. Weekend Update

I’m finally starting to feel recovered from the weekend, and the laundry pile has an end in sight, so I can justify a few minutes here.

Saturday we went to Minnesota for a college friend’s wedding. We only live about 2 hours apart, but I’m terrible about the whole meaning-to-do-things-then-never-getting-around-to-it thing, so it’s the first time we actually went to see her. We managed to make it into the church just in time, but I ended up missing the best part (vows, of course) because in our hurry to get in, we didn’t change Grace and there was a wardrobe issue of the very wet variety. So! I think half the ceremony was spent in the church bathroom. Of course, we didn’t bring a change of nice clothes for her, so we had to hit up Walmart for something wedding appropriate… which was much more difficult than I had expected. In retrospect, since it was crazy hot, we should have just let her wear her shorts and tank top after all… but oh well. Continue reading

Four

Four years ago today, a few of my closest friends and I did our hair and makeup together. We laughed, chatted, and tried to make sure everything was just so. I tried to nibble on some food my dad brought, sucked down an iced coffee, and tried to act natural in front of the photographers. I put on a gorgeous white dress, grabbed the flowers my mom had made up for me, and then we had to be on our way.
