We just got back from a long weekend in South Bend, Indiana to celebrate a college friend’s wedding. My mom graciously took care of the bigger kids so we only had Gemma with us, and oh my goodness it was amazing. Getaway Weekend

Joe and I went away for the first time in five years of marriage. A good friend got married in Michigan, which was close enough to do a quick weekend road trip, but far enough away that the thought of taking the kids on a quick trip with lots of road time and minimal chances for naps made me want to pull my hair out. Luckily, my mom was willing and able to babysit for us. It wasn’t exactly a romantic getaway, but it was a lot of fun.
