The ventilation system of fume hood can be divided into centralized and decentralized. Concentration is to divide the fume hood of one or several floors into one system, or divide the whole laboratory building into one or two systems. It is characterized by a small number of fume hoods, less investment, less equipment, a slight increase or decrease in the number of fume hoods, which has a certain adaptability to the change of location. However, due to the large volume of the system, the air volume is not easy to balance. Although each fume hood is equipped with a control valve, it is not convenient to use and not easy to achieve the desired effect. If the air duct of the system is damaged and needs to be repaired, the fume hood of the whole system cannot be used. Therefore, the laboratory initially used a centralized system. One by one, we turned to distributed systems.
 
The distributed ventilation system consists of one fume hood or several fume hoods in the same room. Its characteristic is that the ventilator can be opened and closed according to the working requirements of the fume hood, which does not interfere with each other, and is easy to achieve the predetermined effect, which is more energy-saving than centralized. The fume hood is relatively small due to small air volume and small air pressure. Another characteristic of dispersion is that it is easy to deal with harmful gases with different properties. The disadvantage is the number of fans and the number of systems. If the fans are concentrated in the ventilation room, the investment will increase. If the wind turbines are installed locally, the investment in wind pipes that can be saved will not necessarily increase in the end, although the wind turbine investment will increase.
 
When dividing the system, if there are more than two fume hoods in the same room, they should be divided into one system to avoid backflow of other fume hoods when using one fume hood.
The ventilator of exhaust system is usually installed in the roof or the top ventilation room, which will not occupy the use area, so that the indoor exhaust pipe is in negative pressure state, so as to prevent harmful substances from leaking into the room due to the loose pipe. In addition, the ventilator is installed on the roof or in the fume hood room on the top floor, which is easy to maintain and reduce noise and vibration.
The emission height of harmful substances in the exhaust system should conform to the current hygienic standard for the design of industrial enterprises and the emission standard for industrial "three wastes". Under normal circumstances, if there is no higher building within 50m nearby, the discharge height should exceed 2m above the highest point of the building.
