We woke up yesterday to this, much to Grace’s delight and my dismay.
I knew it had to come eventually, but everyone I ran into yesterday commented on how we aren’t ready for this. Grace, on the other hand, won’t stop asking if she can play in the snow. When does that transition happen? Because I definitely remember being thrilled as a child on the first snowfall of the year.
Yesterday was Grace’s first parent/teacher conference. Is it weird that Joe and I were both excited to go? It was good to get an update from her teachers, especially since Grace frequently forgets everything she did at school immediately after I pick her up. In case you wanted to know (grandparents), she’s doing great academically, and needs to work on talking to other kids a bit more, mostly just in asking to play with them. After chatting with her teachers, I was just so thrilled all over again that we have a great school to send her to. I’m thankful that it’s such a good fit for our family.
Quick house update: Drywall is up, electrical started, and first coat of mud is drying. It’s starting to look like a room! Although I’m pretty sure this could be filed under: things my teenaged self never thought she’d be excited about.
In other news, I started physical therapy, probably until the end of this pregnancy. These hips of mine, they don’t lie–and neither does the pain when I walk/stand/sit down/sleep too long. So far, I think it’s helping, although both my doctor and PT keep reminding me that this won’t fix the problem, just make it manageable for the duration. Here’s another reason to hope that this bebe isn’t late. Less than 2 months to the due date! Until then, I’m enjoying quiet mornings with this little one, while she’s still the baby of the family.
Her two favorite things: her thumb and blanket. I know we’ll need to break the thumb habit one of these days, but I hate to mess with a good little self-soother. 🙂
