All The Fall Things

We’ve mostly gone a minimalist route for decorating this year, but it’s still fun to get the tub of fall decorations out and put them around the house. We didn’t carve or paint our pumpkins, and only spread our things around last weekend…after meaning to get around to it since September. We don’t have Halloween-specific things, so at least we can stretch it out til Thanksgiving!

One of my favorite wedding shower gifts was a basket full of fall decor (our wedding was in the summer, so it was for the first season we were married). As poor college graduates, decorations were the last thing on my mind (or budget) when starting our lives together, but I loved being able to decorate our little apartment.

We don’t have a lot of places in our house to put extra things, but Grace had fun helping me find a home for little decorative touches here and there for a bit of fall cheer. She loved that I hung her jack o’lantern craft (so easy it’s barely considered a craft!) on her door, and Sophie bids it, “Goodnight, punkin,” at least once a day.

Normally we have a door on those hinges, but the door was taken down for easier basement access for our project… more on that soon!

I’ve had zero pumpkin spice lattes this season, but I did make an apple pie last Saturday (it’s in the freezer, so we’ll see how it turned out this weekend) for the first time with some friends, and made this butternut squash soup for a taste of fall. I highly recommend it; even particular Grace asked if I would make it again sometime, so you know it has to be good.

That jack-o-lantern is about the cutest thing ever.

I have a mix of pumpkins and pilgrims that I just put out last Saturday, so I’m with you in keeping both out until the end of November.

We never carved our pumpkins, either. At least now they can become Thanksgiving decor! πŸ™‚

I am really glad to read this…fall is 100% my favorite holiday but being pregnant makes me pooped out and we definitely didn’t get to as much as usual this year!! Glad we’re not the only ones without carved pumpkins πŸ™‚

And that manger scene in the corner of your bookshelf is beautiful!! Love it!!

I know… I won’t always be pregnant, so there will be other years to do more. Plus, it will be easier when the kids are bigger and can help more!
Thank you! It was a wedding gift, and too pretty to pack away all year round. πŸ™‚
