New Mom Survival Kit

For my sister’s baby shower last Saturday, I wanted to give her something fun that she didn’t have on the registry. I loved when I was gifted with thoughtful gifts from experienced moms who knew what worked and what didn’t. When I came across the Worst Case Scenario book at a price I couldn’t refuse, I knew I had to include it. It’s a bit of a family joke, but it’s entertaining for anyone to flip through. Most of the other supplies I found in the travel section, which also makes this a pretty wallet-friendly gift idea.

Everything other than the book I fit into a tall Mason glass jar that I decorated with some ribbon and washi tape that I had on hand. I included:
> wet wipes, a parenting staple
> face wipes, to freshen up on a day where there isn’t time to sleep, eat, and shower
> a Tide stick, for the stains that inevitably come with babies
> Listerine stips, because, as a friend admitted, sometimes you just don’t brush your teeth for the first couple of days after baby comes
> concealer, to brighten up those sleep-deprived eyes
> a little bottle of rum, because on really hard days, a cocktail can help a new mom relax for a bit
> Chapstick, to keep your lips from getting dry
> and chocolate, which I think is pretty self-explanatory 🙂

What else should I have included? Did I miss any favorites or necessities?

Such a great idea! I appreciated when experienced moms gave me things like this, too. One of my friends gave me the Lansinoh (sp?) cream, Mother’s Milk tea (to help w/ breastfeeding supply), and the Hyland’s teething gel. I hadn’t heard of any of those things before she gave them to me! I’m gonna stock up on those face wipes and the chapstick- that one’s on my hospital bag essential list. 🙂

I feel like I helped with this, even though I didn’t really. 😉
