Happy Birthday, Grace
For Grace’s 4th birthday, I thought it would be fun to remember a few of her favorite things right now. (I also did this last year, click here to compare.)
TV show? Clifford
Thing to eat for lunch? Macaroni and cheese
Game? Ring Around the Rosie
Snack? Graham crackers
Song? I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon (old school Sesame Street)
Book? Arthur’s Birthday
Thing to do outside? Go play at the playground
Do you like to take to bed at night? My blankie
To eat for breakfast? English muffins
What do you want to be when you grow up? Librarian and mommy
It was so fun to watch her enjoy her birthday all day, and so easy to really make it special for her. Donuts for breakfast, streamers around the house, a couple of fun activities, and making her favorite food for dinner, not to mention letting her choose her dessert. She told us so many times that it was the best birthday ever. She didn’t care one bit that we didn’t have a giant, expensive, themed party with twenty other kids running round. The simple joys really were the sweetest.
Grace, you are helpful, sweet, strong-willed, attention-loving, smart, imaginative, sassy, curious, and you make every day an adventure. You challenge me more than you know. Your vocabulary is impressive, and your choice of words frequently makes us laugh. You know what you want and you’re not afraid to go for it, which makes for some interesting battles on the home front but will serve you well someday. You have a heart for others, and you love to pray and do things for other people–one of your current faves is making cards for others. We love you very much and we’re so glad you’re part of our family.
