I’m finally starting to feel recovered from the weekend, and the laundry pile has an end in sight, so I can justify a few minutes here.
Saturday we went to Minnesota for a college friend’s wedding. We only live about 2 hours apart, but I’m terrible about the whole meaning-to-do-things-then-never-getting-around-to-it thing, so it’s the first time we actually went to see her. We managed to make it into the church just in time, but I ended up missing the best part (vows, of course) because in our hurry to get in, we didn’t change Grace and there was a wardrobe issue of the very wet variety. So! I think half the ceremony was spent in the church bathroom. Of course, we didn’t bring a change of nice clothes for her, so we had to hit up Walmart for something wedding appropriate… which was much more difficult than I had expected. In retrospect, since it was crazy hot, we should have just let her wear her shorts and tank top after all… but oh well.
Silver lining! A couple of other college friends were involved with the wedding, so I got to hang out with one of my roommates and Ellen! It was so fun to catch up, see their cute families, and swap stories of raising girls. The time went way too fast, and eventually Sophie (who really was a trooper) let us know that she had had enough, so we had to trek back home.
I’m normally terrible about taking photos of us doing fun things, but I made sure to snap a few selfies so I wouldn’t regret it later, like I always do when I forget to pull the camera (or phone) out.
Sunday saw us with two ornery, overtired girls at Mass, but luckily, they napped while we watched football so we could hit up the county fair in the evening. We weren’t there long, and I didn’t take pics this time (see above: not taking pictures at fun things) but we plan on going back later in the week. Grace was thrilled to get a hot dog, and it was fun to find Joe’s photos that he entered. One even took a prize! Not bad for the first time entering. 🙂
Now that Joe enlarged those photos to enter in the fair, we’re one step closer to adding to our gallery wall and including Sophia so it doesn’t look like Grace is our favorite child… because these days, she usually isn’t. With any luck, she’ll make me eat those words this afternoon, but my hopes are only knee-high.
