Five Favorites: Weber Week Edition

Linking up with Hallie – be sure to visit and see everyone else’s favorites of the week!

So, Joe’s sibs came to visit us for (most of) the week of the Fourth. It’s always fun to get together with them, because not only is it family that we’re with, but we are also spending time with friends. Somehow, that made much more sense in my head than what I can type out. Oh well. My point: we love hanging out with them, and had a great time while they were here. And so, here’s a quick recap/favorites of the week:

1 . Marian + Grace = BFFs.

Seriously, I felt like I barely saw Grace all week. She didn’t demand much of me since she had willing playmates who gladly read the same book approximately 203948 times, were happy to take her outside whenever she wanted, and are much more fun in general.

2. Sushi. We ate well this week – I don’t normally cook as much as I did this week, but more people in the house/less demands from my otherwise occupied kids meant I was freer to you know, prepare meals and stuff. Anyway, Joe thought it would be fun to have some sushi together, which is kind of a treat in our house. We love it, it was good, moving on.

3. S’mores, bonfires, and giant marshmallows.

4. Park days! We have a lot of parks in our little town, but I don’t frequent them as much as Grace would like because I have but two hands, and Sophie can’t really fend for herself yet. I’m trying to do better about going, but when we have twice as many adults as kids, it’s a whole lot easier and much more fun.

5. No Fourth of July would be complete without the fireworks! This was our first year going to watch in the grandstand at the fairgrounds (where they shoot the fireworks off) and I loved it. We sat up high so there was no neck-craning, we were pretty close, and the kids did great.

Honorable mention: Sophie talking to Uncle Ben all week long (she loved him!), playing lots of board and card games (very competitive and very fun, except for the loser), crossword puzzles (what? that’s how we bond), and dance parties for Grace. We can’t wait until the next time!

Family visits are the best, especially when they are good with the kids!!!

Ditto- family visits are def. the best! And I’m w/ you on going to the park solo- so hard w/ 2 little ones, esp. if lots of older kids are there.

That is so neat that they have fireworks at your fairgrounds! – Such a good idea!

Family time is definitely the best. I LOVE the perk of having 24 hour babysitting, give or take a little. =)
We just introduced our little guys to S’mores a few weeks back, and they loved them!

I know! My sister is moving to town in a few weeks, and I’m totally planning on using her for free babysitting! 😉
