Memorial Day Recap

Joe, Grace, and roughly 50 of my closest family members assembled at my grandparents’ farm for a huge camping weekend. This is actually the second year we’ve done it, and it was just as fun as last summer. We had a little bit of a different crowd, and it was fun to catch up with some of the family that we don’t get to see very often. Well, it was fun until I lost my voice (darn you, allergies!) and had to whisper the second half of the weekend, which was difficult with the crazy wind we had. The wind did minimize the heat and bugs, so I won’t complain.

did I mention it was windy?

Grace was mostly a grouch for me, so I passed her off to other people as much as possible. She mostly didn’t like the kiddie pools for the 14 or so kids under age 7, or the crazy amounts of dogs that people brought, but she did become obsessed with jumping on the trampoline someone brought. (Don’t worry, she was supervised verrrrry closely.) She loved playing with her cousin Naveen, who kindly let her “play” ladder ball with him.

on a last minute run to pick up some snacks before the weekend. she insisted on holding them all.

We’re so thankful to have family nearby that we can have fun holidays with, and for Grace to have lots of cute little playmates. We’re also thankful for the wonderful food, good conversations (when I could talk), the fact that there was only one snake incident, only one tent blew away, no mosquitos were out, and that our family are also our friends.

I took a grand total of one other photo over the weekend, but you’ll have to visit Cari‘s blog to see it. I know, I’m really making you work for it. And while you’re there, check out everyone else’s blogs for much better content than you’ll find here.

Your picture was so awesome. I’ve spent all day wishing my family was close together, so we could have camping weekends like that.
    Thanks for contributing!
